Si parla oggi di Knowledge Management, un campo in costante espansione a causa dell’aumento esponenziale della quantità di dati cui siamo soggetti. Trasformare dati in informazioni utili è un problema ancora lontano dalla soluzione.

Interesting Concepts in Search Engines
“A new type of search algorithm is described at NSU . In
a way, it is the next generation over Google. It works off the principle
that most web pages link to pages that concern the same topic, forming communities
of pages. Thus, for academics, this would be great as the engine could find
the community of pages related to a certain subject. The article also points
out this would be good as an actually useful content filter, compared to
today’s text-based ones.”

La gestione del mare di dati per ottenerne informazione utile per prendere
decisioni è una delle sfide correnti dell’informatica. Un articolo
su nuovi metodi di ricerca e su come spesso gli strumenti più semplici

The Case Against Knowledge Management
Effective knowledge management does not settle on one
particular resource, be it software, wetware, classroom training, hands-on
experience, or a technical or social background. These aspects are all
interdependent, and recognizing that fact will lead to success. For example,
consultants and auditors can use PricewaterhouseCoopers’ KnowledgeCurve
system to access news services, online training courses, best practices,
and so on. However, managing partner George Bailey notes that most people
prefer to look to others for help rather than refer to the system first.
He adds that the company’s most commonly used knowledge management tool
is a Lotus Notes email list nicknamed “Kraken” that any employee can use.
ERGONOMIA
Turn Your PC Into A Tablet
“Geekstreet.ca has a story on a new concept invented
by Philips called Detachable Monitor. It’s an LCD with a touch screen that
connects to your PC via 802.11b. I found this article in German with some
nice hi-res pictures and there’s also a link at Philips’ homepage. ”
